Sarum College has shifted its policy on face coverings from discretionary to mandatory in line with the public safety regulations that came into effect from this morning. The College has since summer encouraged people to wear face coverings as they move around the buildings, however, we now ask that anyone who isn’t exempt please to do so without exception. Face coverings are not expected to be worn when seated in a classroom, the library or Refectory.
With the College environment, our ethic of care to students, guests and staff coming into the building in mind, we will:
1) Maintain the cleaning regime we implemented last year, with regular airing and ventilation of gathering spaces and sanitation of high-touch surfaces.
2) Continue to maintain some distance in seating arrangements and accommodate any special requests from event organisers for extra spacing allowances in room set up.
Public safety guidance can change quickly so we will continue to monitor government advice and adapt and update as required.
We are aware that there are some staff and students within our community who are under doctor’s orders to shelter or avoid being indoors with others to reduce risk of infection. .
Some lecturers on University of Winchester-validated programmes will join us in the classroom via Zoom and others will be in-person. For example, Dr Ellie McLaughlin, Programme Leader for Theology, Imagination, and Culture (MATIC), will join and lead modules via Zoom to following medical advice. Colleagues will be in college and help in these instances.
Ministry programmes validated by Common Awards will continue to be delivered through a blend of online and onsite study unless public safety guidance changes.
