Sarum is based in historic grade 1-listed buildings in Salisbury’s Cathedral Close where theological education goes back more than 160 years.
Now a centre for study and research, the Sarum’s wonderful residential facilities are open to all for learning, personal and organisational development, rest and travel.
Guest rooms and venue facilities are available for hire when they are not being used for our learning programmes (find out more).
Sarum is blessed with one of the most beautiful locations in the country, underpinned by a warm welcome, generous hospitality and great food.

Sarum is the perfect place to take time to unwind, be quiet and pray, sleep or walk, enjoy Salisbury, the Cathedral and its Close.
Sarum’s learning and residential facilities are open to the public, whether you’re studying on one of our courses, staying the night as a bed and breakfast guest, organising a conference, hiring one of our meeting rooms or just popping into the library.
Sarum College’s wholly owned subsidiary is Sarum College Services Ltd which provides hospitality at Sarum College under licence from the College. The company is an integral part of its broad charitable remit and supports the College’s charitable objects.
More on Sarum College governance
Additions to the original 1677 Wren building include the late 19th century L-shaped wings and chapel designed by Victorian architect William Butterfield.
The Quad space with three sculptures by John Maine RA is used in fine weather for breaks and receptions.
Across the quad is St Benedict’s Priory, where three Anglican Benedictine monks live and form part of the greater Sarum College community. The community also includes the Royal School of Music (RSCM) whose national administrative office is housed on the second floor.
Sarum’s learning streams offer courses, consultancy, conferences and research opportunities to suit different styles of living and learning.
Course and programme structures vary widely, from evening lectures to day and residential courses – at varying levels, from academic to experiential, intensive to leisurely.
Our mission is fulfilled when students and guests come away from their time here spiritually and intellectually nourished, refreshed in wisdom and courage.
Within the college is a library with an outstanding collection of more than 40,000 books covering all denominations. More about the library
